  Heart beat effect
Posted by: krissprolls - 15-12-2020, 08:19 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Hi !
For my show construction, i would like to create a heart beat effect with brightness change on all my pixels lights.

Do you have an idea for creating this effect with the less steps and adjusting easily the refresh rate of the "heart beat" to synchro it on the music rythm ?

Thanks !

Hello & help with connecting RS485 controllers to SL-8000
Posted by: Doodley - 15-12-2020, 02:42 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Hi all,
I'm new to syncrolight and I must say I'm really impressed with their service and support.

I wonder if anyone may be able to help me with a network connection please. I have a Sl-8000 pixel control which I have set up and controlling pixels in slave mode. I want to connect my other RS485 controller's to this by the rs485 output on the SL-8000 and keep using it as a slave control, but I can't seem to figure out how to configure the ethernet network so that the other Rs485 controllers run from the SL-8000.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Please help! What to do?
I have tried to change mode to button press, then it works, but not while playing the entire list. :Sad

  Show Player Setup
Posted by: clivehawees - 02-12-2020, 01:07 AM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

I am really struggling with the show player.  My aim is to use custom built filler shows between musical shows from 4:30pm to 6pm then just the silent shows as soon as they finish.

My controller is set to all off when connected to the PC which is what I want as I have my own "filler" shows between music

Using scheduled starts doesn't seem to work as I cant then specify the fillers to play by default when idle.  Neither can I find a way to have the filler shows running and for scheduled shows to override them and then revert back to the fillers.

So, my conclusion was that I need to make a schedule to run from 4:30pm to 11pm putting the right shows in at the right times.  This is really hard to do!  If you add a show by mistake you cant remove it.  It seem to randomly remove another show from earlier in the playlist not the one you highlight.  Also, I have realised that the first show is always skipped (whatever show is selected)! I also believe other shows are skipped as my 9 hour long schedule terminated after about 6 hours.

I was wondering if there are there any plans to improve the show player and/or fix these bugs?

I am really impressed with the overall setup and 4 days after receiving my kit have 6 sound syncronised shows up and running on 2 controllers and 15 channels!  It is just the show player that is causing me issues unless I am doing something wrong?

  inject power
Posted by: miamivice - 01-12-2020, 09:25 PM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

So, i have most of my lights working now
i have a ethernet pixel controller running 2 led strips (160), 2 seperate Ws2811 50 pixel strings and a ws2811 100 pixel string.
I have a 5v 20a power supply.

(i also have a 5v 60a spare power supply)

all the lights "flash" like i want them to, and I know how to adjust the colours etc.

However as the title says, i think i need to inject some power.

My LED strips should be all white at times, but range from white to red at the furthest point. My pixels perform similar with a lot of red instead of white at times.

i believe this is due to power drop.

So i don't screw it all up now, can someone just clarify how to "inject power"

It is my belief that i add +ve and -ve to the other end of the strings by connecting the red and black (or white on one string) to my spare power supply.

My LED strips are sealed at the ends so cannot add to them, but hoping that by adding power to everything else they sort themselves out!

Am i correct?

Would it be better to connect my 60A supply to the board (it doesn't seem to make much difference) and inject my 20A. I don't know. This is the bit that confuses me.

Or i may be completely wrong and need to do it some other way?

any help appreciated!

  Cutting LEDS lights
Posted by: rick - 01-12-2020, 03:48 PM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

Hi, i am creating a few signing christmas trees and some of the channels only require about 20 LEDs yes i know you can wrap them up behind the panel but, its a waste, is there any way to cut the (say) 100 white LED string lights to shorter lengths and do i need to install a resistor (and if i do how)

Thanks you and wish you all a great 2021

2 ethernet controller on the same network
Posted by: krissprolls - 29-11-2020, 11:50 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Hi all !

This year, i use two ethernet controller on the same network for the first time,

The only settings that is possible to ajust is the ip adress, subnet and mask.

However, the two controller have in factory config the same mac adress, and multicast ip.

So, it's impossible to connect the two controller at the same time in the show (access problem) even if the ip / mac / milticast adress is different. "Cannot open "ipcard"

I do something wrong or it's impossible to add multiple ethernet controller ?

Thanks in advance

Chris
