  Pixel mega tree
Posted by: Pauls - 18-11-2020, 11:12 AM - Forum: General - No Replies

I'm just in the planning stages of making a pixel mega tree, do people use every hole in the mounting strips or every other? Also how many drops would you use on a 2 meter tree?
Thanks in advance.

Pixel boards - connectors opposite way around !
Posted by: shawnwales - 04-11-2020, 10:16 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

i may be the only one not to nitice, but the new LED boards , the connectors are opposite way around on Ch 1,3,5,7  , so if swapping the molex conectors between old and new boards they wont work ,  i had the 12v lamps , no issue just rewired , when i eventually twigged Rolleyes but need to be aware , just in case it takes you 2 hours ot notice the change :-)

  One Pixel Out
Posted by: cymglo - 01-11-2020, 03:02 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

I have just started trying out a few sequences with my new ethernet controller and 2 strings of ws2811 5v pixels (50 pixels).

In device manager they are all working fine and can be controlled individually.

However when in show designer and i select all 50 on, the last one in the string does not come on.  If i put both strings together the 100th does not come on but all other 99 do.

I'm using a 10amp psu for the controller and lights, this happens both when powering both strings from the controller output and when I inject power to the second string.

Any suggestions where I'm going wrong?

  Changing visulisation
Posted by: Pauls - 24-10-2020, 08:51 AM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

So I got the free let it go/ in to the unknown show. Opened it and opened a visulisation and then realised it was an old one. And I can't see a way to change it to the newer version I have saved. I know this is going to be a simple thing I'm missing.

sorted it, just deleted the older one off the laptop and when opened it again it asked for new or existing so was able to open the correct one.

Pixels - Trying to work it all out
Posted by: cymglo - 18-10-2020, 11:04 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Hi Again,

So I'm looking to get started with adding pixels to my display this year, just wanted to ask a few things:

Already found I will need to upgrade to the Pro software to run ethernet controller with existing DC ones.

Looking at the SL-4000 controller with 1000 pixel licence, and to start with probably 2 of the WS2811 strings each of 50 pixels. This will I believe require a 5v power supply to run the controller, I also read somewhere about powering each string individuallly / injecting power to each? Does this mean a seperate PSU for each string?

With the 2 external output ports I could put 1 string in each, and guessing that if I get extra strings in future they can just be connected onto the ends of the existing ones and programmed as required? e.g If I had say 4 different pixel items a few metres apart from each other I could just tell the software that "string A" is here and "string B" there, or would it all count as one item?

Sorry for so many questions but just want to make sure I know exactly what I need to get going!

  Losing the love.
Posted by: Pauls - 18-10-2020, 02:45 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Seriously losing the love for doing a Christa's light show. I'm now having issues with the show selector again. Had issues to start with where I couldn't change the I'd number. Got round that. Now after having changed a few of the shows. Tried to down load show names to selector and it just errors and doesn't load. Starts to go though then when it gets to about number 7 it errors and the network drops out. Tried on 2 different laptops and still the same. At this rate I will end up with one candle out side my house at Christmas.

  New controller pulling down network
Posted by: r6sporty - 18-10-2020, 09:52 AM - Forum: General - No Replies

Hi, i have just bought a 3 channel relay to add to my display.
i tested my existing setup and all is working.
When i add the new controller to the network, i lose all the controllers. when i unplug the relay card, the others come back??
i have connected the relay card on its own but the device manager does not find it.
Also, i thought that when not connected to network, it should run a standalone sequence but it doesn't?
Have i got a faulty card??
thanks

Has anyone ever tried to sequence this with syncrolight, would love to get this. It seems a difficult thing to do with the speed alone.
