SP10 Show Player toggle mode without computer

Hi. I do not seem to be able to toggle between the show on demand push button mode and the run shows continuously mode by pressing the red button?
The instructions say to power up the system and hold the button in until it flashes and the mode will have switched from one to the other but I have held the button in for minutes without it flashing. If I plug in my laptop,I can change modes no problem but I want to be able to do this without plugging in my laptop.
What am I doing wrong or missing?
Any help will be much appreciated, thank you.

Hold down button before and while u plug inn the power. When power is plugged in u can se the light flash (3-5sec after u have pluged power)
I was also wundering about it. Until i tried to hold the buton while i powered up. Then it works
