Light Strings - Jga88 - 01-12-2018 Hi
Is it possible to cut light strings down in size? If so how can this be done and can you then use the left over lights as another string?
Many thanks in advance for any help.
RE: Light Strings - steve1200 - 01-12-2018 take a look at this post, question has already been asked https://www.syncrolight.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?tid=101 RE: Light Strings - Jga88 - 03-12-2018 That great thanks, also another question is it pissible to join two 100 light strings together?? RE: Light Strings - sandy123 - 03-12-2018 It is possible, but I'd definitely recommend you don't try. Buy a 200 string of lights. There's a very good chance you will write off the two 100 strings that you want to join. More expense than you'd bargained for. I've 'hacked' a few light strings in the past and the hardest part is identifying where to cut and where to solder the joints. LEDs are wired in a series/parallel configuration and even the small light strings are a nightmare to unravel in order to identify the correct place (two wires) in which to make the joint. regards Sandy RE: Light Strings - steve1200 - 08-12-2018 could they not be joined at the controller ? ie plugging two sets of lights into one controller port ? it would mean having an extension lead going to the second set but that would depend how far apart the LED and controller is just a thought... RE: Light Strings - sandy123 - 11-12-2018 Extension lead and feeding from the same channel would do the trick. It would draw less than 1 Amp. Definitely better than trying to solder 2 x 100 LED strings together |
